Feb Match Report
After a shock result in the inaugural Edenvale Poker League game the February tie got underway with a few players trying to make a point. The tension was high with the two debutants Martin McCann and Nuala McGlade trying to put some points on the board. The prematch favorite was Daddy Donaghy whose sobriety was expect to be to much for the rest of the contenders to deal with. In a smart move Dee "Nil Point" White saved him self a fiver by not putting in an appearance but still managed to achieve the same result as in the previous round.
Michael Heerey was involved in a lot of early action, sadly for him this action involved handing his chips over to other players. No sooner had the game started than Michael was out, in less time than it take Marty McCann to detune a guitar. Heerey didn't let this set back affect him and promptly to use his poker expertise to assist Nuala McGlade. Nuala, whose play was more week than 7 consecutive days throughout, was promptly ejected from the game but did score 1 point to move off the bottom in the league table.
By 12.03pm after 5 hours of play Niall "Tighter than Fra when its his round" Gibbin decided to play a hand, but it was a bad decision as he was promptly knocked out along side Da Donaghy, who is now beginning to think that when it comes to poker, to him alcohol is like Samson's hair. That left the two Martys, Donaghy and McCann to fight it out for the victory. McCann had developed a weird kind of tourrettes through out the game, but rather than uncontrollable cursing, like the rest of players, Marty had a nervious tic which pushed a blue chip into the fray with an outburst of "raise fifty" at every available opportunity. McCann had amassed a towering stack of chips and despite the valiant efforts of the handsome Donaghy luck prevailed and McCann was crowned February Champion. Well Done!
The result leaves it pretty tight at the top. Niall Gribbin is still topping the table but is closely followed by the Martys. Stay posted for details of the March game.
